Welcome Virginia

Welcome back home.. So, we entered Virginia right before sunset with another 2-3 hrs drive left to get home. Some gorgeous sunset views behind us and driving through Shenandoah valley was awesome. A mix of happiness & sadness was surrounding us as we were getting closer to end of XC!!

4000 miles.. at New River Gorge Grandview

After leaving Charleston yesterday, we completed 4000 miles of driving. We decided to stop at New River Gorge Grandview and celebrate it there. Some nice views of river, scenic views and deer at a deserted spot with closed visiting center and no other people. Maybe it was weather or whatever, but it was definitely an XCiting view and XCiting moment for us. 4000+ miles done and another 300+ miles to go.. that's what's called XC!!

Nice Indian lunch buffet and nice service. This was our yesterday's lunch before leaving home to Virginia in our final drive for XC!!

Charleston Capitol Building & Museum

Today was last day of XC, so we decided to explore Charleston before leaving for home. It's a beautiful building & a beautiful museum. The top is 23.5 carat gold and museum has lots of cool artifacts and very informative & fun. All for FREE!!

Welcome West Virginia, Charleston

So last night we reached our neighbours state West Virginia, in the capital Charleston. We hung out around downtown, near water, some bars n pubs - Pies & Pints for nice pizza with ok beer after 25 mins wait and then 101 bar for few nice beers. It was a fun night, the last night of XC!!

Yummy random restaurant in Lexington.  Going on our way to Charleston and getting sick of southern food, we went to this place.  Pretty good place!

Three Chimneys

We went to one of the famous thoroughbred horse farms near Lexington, KY.  The horses on the farm are fancy and expensive and really pampered.  The horses we saw are all famous (or sort of famous) and we got to take pictures of them up close.

Wild Turkey Distillery

<p>We went to the Wild Turkey Bourbon distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY.  I didn't know anything about bourbon.  It seems bourbon is a type of whiskey but predominantly corn instead of rye (or something like that).  Anyway there are all these federal regulations about it which they seem to resent but also protect them - like bourbon has to be made in the US, and it has to be mostly corn, and it has to be aged in new barrels.  Finally there was a tasting, and we bought the single barrel fanciest one - it's written on the neck in which warehouse and which shelf  it lived for 10 years.
